171 – patina

picked up this 1953 delta / rockwell homecraft 8″ table saw off craigslist yesterday. it’s seen better days, and it doesn’t seem like it’s been serviced since it was new (or at least the 80′s). i broke it down completely tonight, which turned out to be a bit more of a pain in the ass than i thought it would – that’s life – at least i had my ‘sappy sing-along’ playlist blaring pretty loudly to keep me company. there were several cotter pins that had it pretty firmly in their head that they were going to spend the rest of their lives exactly where they were, they had no plans of going anywhere at all – a few punches and several hammer blows later they were out though. was originally planning to just clean, and regrease everything and then put it all back together, but now that i have it apart i’m thinking a sandblasting and fresh coat of pale blue on this whole thing wouldn’t be a bad idea at all. luckily there’s an automotive body shop right at the end of my street – i’ll get a quote from them tomorrow on the job.

// end blathering on and on // begin pizza time
