A note to you (excerpt from the book)
In 2013 I set out to take a series of photos each day – a minimum of three photos a day.
These photos were shot, edited, and published to my blog by the end of each day.
The following photos were all shot in 2013, some published to the blog, but many more never published anywhere before.
Included you will find photos from Oakland, San Francisco, El Cerrito, Berkeley, and Monte Rio / Russian River, California. Photos from Portland, Oregon, Austin, Texas, Tallahassee, Florida, and Sanibel Island, Florida.
I approached this year’s photo-making with agnostic, democratic appreciation for the banal and mundane. These are photos from my life – as it happened… attempting to find something beautiful, interesting, or terrible at every moment – I shot constantly. This collection of 89 photos was selected from the over 25,000 digital images, and 256 rolls of color, and black and white, 120 and 35mm film that I shot. With no great preference for a specific camera or format – this collection includes images made with: Fuji X-Pro1, Leica M6, Mamiya 7, Pentax 6×7, Olympus XA, Nikon F2, Voigtländer Bessa-R, iPhone 4 & 5, Polaroid 103, and Leica M9.
I don’t imply that these photos are anything more grand than snapshots. My best hope for them is that you find something that you connect with in them, and that they remind you of our similarities – our shared humanness.
365! and… done!
been a great year, can’t wait to see what’s next.
the photos above are of my proofing copy of the book that i’m releasing… today! the title for the book comes from the title of the first post that started this year.

decided to go with a paperback to cut costs a little bit – it’s still on the steep side of the price-range i wanted it to be but, i decided to justify that by making it a limited edition – once (if) i sell 50 copies i will be taking this link down – that’ll be all there is ever of this book.
thanks for following along with this daily blog this year. it was not always easy, and i am glad i did it, and equally glad it is done.
much love to you all.
happy new year!
